Drogheda Port welcomes the Irish Cruising Club Rally to Drogheda
|
Drogheda Port Company welcomed the Irish Cruising Club Rally to Drogheda on the weekend of Saturday 4th June for the first time in 41 years. The club last visited Drogheda in September 1975. The recent promotion and popularity of the river Boyne and the Irish Maritime Festival as key tourist attractions for visiting leisure boats was fundamental in attracting the club back to the Boyneside to have their annual rally.

The new code of practice, published by the Health and Safety Authority, provides clear advice on how to reduce the dangers that are common in ports and docks. |

Drogheda Port One Million Tonnes

| Drogheda Port Company handled over one million tonnes of cargo in 2012 and outperformed the Irish port sector in terms of year on year throughput growth. Trade Volumes continue to grow at Drogheda Port
|
| The first six month trading volumes for Drogheda Port continue to grow with an increase of over 44% on the equivalent period last year. Over 387,000 tonnes of cargo was handled with particularly strong export volumes representing 42% of total throughput volume. |

First Cruise Call to Drogheda Port and the Boyne Valley

The cruise ship "Clipper Adventurer" arrived today at Drogheda Port, entering the world famous river Boyne at 0630 hours. The vessel was greeted by a large crowd and the sound of 'paddys green shamrock shore' echoed around the estuary at morning as a lone piper played.

| In May next year Drogheda Port will host its first cruise vessel with the arrival of the ‘Clipper Adventurer.’ The cruise liner will be undertaking its inaugural circumnavigation of the island of Ireland visiting a number of destinations including Drogheda and the Boyne Valley. |

Irish Navy visits Drogheda Port

| The Irish naval vessel LE CIARA paid an official visit to Drogheda Port over the weekend under the command of Lt Cdr Frank O’Connor. The vessel arrived at Tom Roes Point Terminal on Saturday afternoon at 1500hrs and stayed until 0830hrs Monday morning. |

Continuing on the volume growth experienced in 2010 the first quarter trading volumes for Drogheda Port show an increase of 18% on the equivalent first quarter volumes for last year. The strongest volume increases occurred in the dry bulk and break bulk segments. |
